Glenmarie has been the fourth Rapid KL station to be named under the lucrative Station Naming Rights (SNR) scheme, which gives the chosen partner complete control over projecting their brand and image throughout the facility. Glenmarie is the latest addition to the network’s lineup, after Bangsar, Bukit Bintang, and Universiti. While Bangsar is now Bank Rakyat-Bangsar LRT Station, Bukit Bintang is now Air Asia-Bukit Bintang Monorail Station, and Universiti is now KL Gateway-Universiti LRT station, Glenmarie will now be rebranded as CGC-Glenmarie LRT station after Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE) granted Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad the naming rights privileges (CGC).
PRIDE, a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), promotes and runs the initiative, which is the first of its type in Southeast Asia and allows businesses or brands to compete for the right to convert a station to reflect their corporate identity and name it after themselves.
The ‘ownership’ of the station is commercially excellent because its main office is located at Kelana Jaya Business Centre, which is directly adjacent to the CGC-Glenmarie LRT Station, which is a new station under the LRT Line Extension Project that was formally completed in June last year. As the station’s brand owner, CGC not only has the advantage of painting the whole station to promote its brand and image but also of fully exploiting the inside for its advertising purposes.
The LRT Kelana Jaya Line, which runs between Gombak and Putra Heights and is merged with the sibling LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line at Masjid Jamek station and connects to the Monorail Line at KL Sentral station, is also offered a retail kiosk as part of GCC’s contract with PRIDE. It will become an integrated station for the proposed LRT Line 3 (LRT3), which will run between Bandar Utama and Johan Setia in Klang and is expected to open in 2020. PRIDE Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Mohd Zahir Zahur Hussain congratulated CGC on the initiative and expressed confidence that the company would reap significant advantages from its investment in securing greater mileage and business.
“We are thrilled to have obtained the Glenmarie LRT Station Naming Rights.” We will bring our brand closer to our fellow Malaysians and increase brand awareness of CGC by cooperating with Prasarana, which is in line with our goal of becoming The Household Name for SMEs by 2020.” “CGC has been empowering Malaysian SMEs since 1972, and we have granted over RM63.5 billion in guarantees to over 330,000 SMEs.” And we’re dedicated to continuing to support Malaysian SMEs at all of our 16 locations around the country, including our main bank near the CGC-Glenmarie LRT station,” Zameer added.
