Medicine or Nursing: which career to choose?
Choosing a career dedicated to the area of health is ultimately a great challenge to follow, and although the vast majority are linked, it does not mean that the duration and the studies will be the same.
The academic offer in this field is really wide and varied and the moment to choose a career is when there are many doubts: What study? What field of health should I specialize in? Among many other questions.
Both careers are well paid, and graduates have a high rate of job opportunities, so both are a great option to choose from. Just think what would a hospital or medical area look like with many patients, but without health personnel?
Medicine is a discipline that consists of health care, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and it is a career that requires vocation, since a doctor must be trained to face any of the situations and cases. It is a career where most of its graduates have a job.
Nursing is the science that is dedicated to the care and attention of the sick and injured, in addition to other health tasks, following clinical guidelines, where 85 percent of graduates have a job according to their educational level.
In both cases, it is possible to work in private, government hospitals, and the salary, as in all careers, will depend on your experience and skills, although it can really vary.
Regarding the duration of studies, the nursing career requires 4 years (sometimes a little more); and 5 years of medicine, in addition to a year of internship and another year in which social service is performed. Eye! In the latter, that time does not cover the specialty.
The curriculum initially has the same common core subjects and the basic ones of a professional career, but it is the only time that these careers are really the same.
The differences between these professions are very marked, for example, a doctor has the necessary knowledge to prescribe a treatment while a nurse does not; and although nurses are necessary at the time of a surgical intervention, only doctors can perform an operation.
Nurses have the possibility of working in different ways, either in a fixed position in a hospital, caring for patients, even if they work privately, they can choose their way of working and even the days and hours.
The work of a doctor as well as that of a nurse can be carried out in a fixed position or in particular, they can even combine the position with their own office or clinic; And unlike nurses, most doctors according to the specialty they practice are required at all times according to the urgency, for example, an anesthesiologist can never be absent from a surgery room, just like a surgeon.
Without a doubt, the work that is done in each of the races is really hard and requires a lot of dedication.
